Queen of Hearts

I decided to give a surprise 40th birthday party for my friend, Juliet. I combined it with our weekly Canasta game, so I chose a Queen of Hearts theme and decorated in red and black. I borrowed some ideas from OhAmanda's card-themed birthday party.

The cake was a heart-shaped red velvet cake. I made four scrapbook pages with blank white hearts so that all the ladies could write a wish for the birthday girl. I used real playing cards to make garlands, table confetti and cupcake toppers. For party favors, I used wrapping paper, scrapbooking flowers and ribbon to decorate mini bottles of hand sanitizer. It was a fun party and we even managed to surprise the guest of honor.
