Party Recap

Sam loves sharks, so the theme was an easy pick! It also worked perfectly for his summer birthday. I started with some simple shark illustrations and created the invitation and printables. I chose a red, aqua and navy color theme with chartreuse accents, and I love how the colors worked together. The centerpiece of the party was the dessert table with a large poster and balloon garland. The cake with ombre blue icing was my favorite part. The metallic-painted shark card holders for the food labels also looked great. But here's a tip: Make sure the first coat of paint is dry before you add another! They never fully dried (even after 3 days) and we had to warn guests not to touch them. For dinner we had hot dogs, and all sat along a long table decorated with a dip-dyed table runner and paper shark garlands. For dessert we served cake homemade popsicles and frosted, shark-shaped sugar cookies. We sent little guests home with shark repellent (bubbles) for party favors.
