Party Recap

Jessie, the mother-to-be, is originally from London and doesn’t have much family living here in the US. The pregnancy had been very challenging, which kind of took away from the happiness and excitement of the baby’s arrival. So, Jessie’s in-laws wanted to throw a fun baby shower to really celebrate and to get her excited about this new life adventure she would be embarking on with her husband Dave. The parents to-be didn’t want to know the sex of the baby beforehand, so we made sure to keep the baby shower theme gender-neutral. Since London is notorious for its constant state of rainy days, we suggested to do a shower/rainy theme. The idea just took hold and we ran with it! Many of the creative ideas we came up with for this rainy theme were made possible by the venue in which we held the shower: ZED451. ZED451 has slots in the ceiling that allowed us to easy fasten the tissue honeycomb poms. We attached them in a way that resembled clouds, accompanied by raindrop garland “dripping” from them. The sweets table had an adorable backdrop consisting of white tissue fans, with rainbow colored raindrops sprinkling from them. The theme was carried all the way into the sweets themselves, which were sugar cookies of clouds and raindrops, as well as an adorable cake made by Bittersweet. The cake had a sky blue ombre look with multicolor raindrops in a modern fashion, and had a whimsical cloud cake topper. For the table centerpieces, we took pops of floral (that were on par with the theme colors) and tucked them inside of colorful rain boots. Each boot had a little flag that we designed with fun notes welcoming the baby, and other festive baby shower phrases. All of the paper goods were created by Naturally Yours Events, including the adorable invitations that included a fun use of font as well as an awesome chevron envelope liner. We had an open air photo booth where guests were encouraged to stand in front of a backdrop, adorned with colorful raindrops. Guests chose a prop that portrayed what they thought the baby’s gender would be - “Is baby Z a he or a she?” All in all, guests raved how unique, personal and special the shower was. We were honored to help Jessie and Dave shower their baby with love.
