Surprise 30th Library Party
ByParty Recap
This was a surprise party for my bookworm sister, Carley - Library theme was just perfect for her!
I had the invites made up like the borrow cards from inside the cover of library books and had the Library of Carley on both the invites and envelopes.
As the party was at a park/picnic area I decided to paint a library/bookcase backdrop to keep the library feel going and titled the books on the 'bookcase' with milestones in Carley's life so far e.g. school graduation, wedding, birth of kids etc etc
For decorations I made bunting from old book pages and also made pinwheel cupcake toppers and cupcake wrappers from old book pages for the cupcake tower cake.
The guests were asked to bring a plate of food to share but I also made some worm shaped cookies - bookworms!
All the plates, serviettes, cups were disposable for ease but I bought all yellow to match with the yellow Kraft paper of the borrow card invite envelopes.
To get Carley to the venue without giving too much away I had an "Overdue Book Notice" made up to match the invites that read: Please return your overdue library books to (address) on (party date) and made the time half hour later than what I had asked the guest to arrive by. Carley was given this 'Late Notice' the night before the party.
I asked all the guests to bring along a book mark for a gift for Carley. I also bought a few little library theme gifts: book page wrapped pencils, vintage library stamper etc.
