Party Recap

My good friend's daughter was turning five and I was asked to help style her big birthday celebration. This was her first official friend party and an affair we wanted to make extra special. Abby, the birthday girl, is in awe of all things MERMAID, which made our theme a pretty easy decision. Next we decided upon colors. We knew sweet Abby would be disappointed without a little pink and sparkle. So, we chose the fun color combination of pink, aqua and teal. We added some sparkle with some fun fabric and letters that spelled out her name. We did our best to keep our dessert offerings ocean-inspired. Even her beautiful cake took on the appearance of mermaid scales. To make things even MORE fun, we found a local recreation center that has a large indoor swimming pool, which allowed our guests to get in touch with their inner mermaid.

After two hours of water play, our guests were treated to pizza, mermaid juice (pink lemonade), seaweed skewers (grapes on a stick), and a full array of sweets to keep their flippers flapping.

It was a truly magical party that any five year old girl would love to attend. We are pretty sure Abby won't soon forget her special day.
