Tartan Nutcracker Staff Dinner Party
ByParty Recap
Every year I pick a new theme for my husband's staff Christmas party. This year was a dinner at our house where we all wore tartan shirts like an Old Navy commercial:) I cooked up a traditional turkey dinner with desserts.. The idea was to feature a blend of Nutcrackers and Tartan in a 2016 style using crystal, gold cutlery, tartan decor, cute serving stands, and of course nutcrackers! The day of the party it was snowing so it added a lot of extra fun and excitement to the party.
Party Highlights
-
What People Ate
Appies (fried pickles, crab stuffed mushrooms caps, coconut prawns) then homemade Turkey Dinner with cranberry sauce and Turkey Balls which are amazing!
-
What People Drank
We served a Nutcracker Welcome Drink which was processco and raspberry/cranberry juice served in flutes with pomegranate seeds at the bottom of the glass. The beer was the "12 Days of Christmas" Craft Beer Cases from Red Arrow Brewery. Each bottle in the box is wrapped differently and is a surprise beer of a different flavour. I let the guests unwrap the beers and discover the varieties - it was a great conversation piece. We also had a Gin and Tonic Bar, "Apothic" Red Wine, and" Oyster Bay" White Wine.
-
Desserts
Desserts were: Salted Caramel Shortbread, White and Chocolate Yule logs, lemon cookies, mincemeat and butter tarts, macarons, chocolate bark and Nanaimo bars, and fruit.
-
Party Favors
The fortune cookies I put on the dining tables were really different in that they purposely came with outrageous/bad messages inside made by OK COOKIE CO. It was pretty fun hearing guests be shocked when they read them, and then laugh uncontrollably!
-
Activities / Games
I made Naughty or Nice Punch Cups with prizes inside, Face Coasters "Who AM I" by Purple Donkey Games, Pictionary, and Christmas Trivia
