Party Recap...
For my daughter's second birthday, I wanted to throw a whimsical kids party which incorporated her favorite character "Ni Hao Kai Lan" but could still be enjoyed by our friends (many of which have no kids). I pulled the key colors from the cartoon and made a Red & Aqua themed party with subtle touches of the cartoon character. This not only gave the party a modern twist, but it also allowed me to mix & match different party finds while avoiding having to buy cartoon themed party items.
Party Highlights
Best Moment
The best moment was being able to bring our families and friends together to celebrate. One of my party planning philosophies, is to make the party a celebration for everyone so many times the kid's party is classy enough for the adults but fun enough for the kids.
Most Touching Moment
SInce the day just flies by when you party plan, I think the most touching moments came when we were able to look back on the beautiful photos captured by T & H Photography (http://www.tandhphotography.com)
Best Dressed
The birthday girl herself!!! We purchased the most adorable dress on Etsy, that matched the colors of the party but added a fun twist with the pattern.
What People Ate
I had a local gourmet food truck at the party, which served a variety of fusion hot dogs, tacos and french fries. I put a spin on the display by creating french fry cones and purchased a variety of dipping sauces at the local Fresh & Easy market.
What People Drank
To stay in line with the color theme, I picked a variety of Jones Soda flavors. I also had bottled water and juice boxes for the kids.
Dessert
The highlight of dessert was the Kai-Lan themed cake that was made by a local baker (http://www.jenniferstonebarger.blogspot.com/). She was also able to make mini iced cookies and dessert shots that incorporated the theme throughout the tasty treats.
Activities / Games
Since the party was at a local park we had the playgrounds and also had a carousel shaped bounce house to keep them entertained. Since there was only a small handful of young kids, we decided to keep the party casual like a backyard party.
