Party Recap

My son Tom has these obsessions, often related to historical events or topics! His long-standing obsession of his has been with the Titanic. The engineering of the Titanic, the stories, the series of events that resulted in the tragedy we all know today, however there is just so much more to be learnt about this ship and the technology and progress of it’s time, instead of just focusing on how things ended. The elegance of yesteryear, it all comes together to create a deep fascination!
So, for Tom’s 8th birthday we HAD to bring it all together – the grandeur, the majestic, mysterious glory days of the Titanic.
And who can resist the clean, naval look! It’s really quite stunning!
If there is one thing, we have learned over the years of party planning, it is to keep the main party / dessert table small. It makes your set up easy and each of your party items and décor features gets a chance to shine! We used the naval themed banners on the wall, some cardboard postal tubes painted yellow and black to show the 4 chimneys of the Titanic, and a glacier-blue cake with chocolate shards and a printable sinking Titanic topper.
We used old vintage style suitcase and designed printable signage (Luggage Drop-Off) and various food items details with toppers and hey presto, we had a Titanic table!
Let’s break it down:
Don’t you just love this clean vintage styling, coloring and fonts? This ‘ticket stub’ invitation is an instant download, edit with your details, and print the stylish diagonal stripe backing design on the back, just to finish it off beautifully!

The idea of a ‘Titanic’ cake was a little daunting, so we simplified. A delicious sponge cake, with a blue icing effect, and white chocolate shards for an ‘iceberg’ look. Then, all you need are this ‘sinking Titanic’ and lifeboat cut-outs for a super cool Titanic cake! We did create a quick video showing you how we made it without even turning on our oven! https://youtu.be/03-PIxyC3Ew
We ordered in some blue macarons as ‘Cabin Biscuits’, white coconut ice as ‘icebergs’, red and white sweets as ‘life buoys’ and of course we even labelled our drinks. Little red and white star flags also made their way into the décor, giving that smart, clean naval style!

These signage details help to set the scene and add to the vintage feel of the party.

We created Titanic activity pages where a hit with Tom and his guests – a little word search and I Spy never hurt anyone!
For our party favors, we made these cute sugar cookies with a ‘T’ for Tom, and called them Pilot Crackers and finished them off with a cute backing page and treat bag topper.

As always, a great time was had by all, I can’t believe another year has gone by – Happy Birthday 8th birthday sweet TomTom!
