The inspiration for the party all started with the invitation. From there it all just fell into place really. I had a shirt for Tilly already, that I'd bought in a sale 12 months prior, all I needed were some cute bloomers to go with them. The bloomers were made especially for the party. They were perfect.
I downloaded the templates for the props from a blog I found, sorry I can't for the life of me remember where they were from.
I used things from around the house to set the theme. For instance, the doll is mine from when I was a little girl, it was a gift to me for when I was born.
The cake I made, it was a disgustingly hot day and the heat was not kind, and the cake melted, lol. The bunting on the cake I had made.
All games that I'd planned went out the window when the heat set in, instead the kids had a water bomb fight.
I did up a lolly shop, which was a huge hit with both the kids and adults.
Food consisted of good ole fashioned cupcakes and rice crackles.
For lunch I served hot dogs, they were served in cardboard trays, which I hand stamped with the words 'EAT UP' on each. This is what the birthday girl says each night at the dinner table, so I thought it only fitting that I add that touch to them.
The favours for each guest was a personalised colouring book with a little hessian bag that I filled with colour pencils, as well as a bag of lollies.
All in all it was a great day, it was very, very hot, but that is just a typical summers day here.
Seeing the kids faces when they saw the 'Lolly Shop'.
Most Touching Moment
When we sung 'Happy Birthday' to the birthday girl, she loved the attention.
When the cake melted. Heat + cake = mess.
Of course it was the birthday girl.
What People Ate
Lollies, cake, caramel tarts, chocolate crackles and hot dogs with the lot-bacon, onions and cheese, with a choice of BBQ sauce, tomatoe and mustard.
What People Drank
Softdrink and water. Lots of water, it was an extremely hot day.
Activities / Games
All games that I'd planned were forgotten when we got up that morning to the heat that waited for us. I'd planned sack races, egg and spoon races and pin the tail on the donkey. Instead I went and bought water bombs and the kids, and some of the adults had a water fight.
