Train Day!!

What a fun/crazy day!! My son loves trains and all things Thomas the Tank Engine, so of course a little train ride for Saul and his friends was perfect. The weather held out (no mean feat for a Canberra winter!!), the kids rode the train, and the adults even got to have a sneaky champers and a chat while the kids played.

On the day, the venue worked brilliantly for such a large group of 3 year olds. We had a great open space inside the train tracks, so while dad’s took the kids on the train, the mum’s could watch the kids having fun while we caught up and had a chat.

On arrival all the kids got snack boxes which also doubled as a colouring in activity, of course with the requisite trains to colour!! Atop the snack boxes were special tickets so the kids could board the ‘birthday train for Saul’.

The treats table was simple but effective. It took me ages to perfect the macaron’s (they’re such fickle beasts!), but everyone loved the final result. Of course cake pops, lemon tarts, strawberries and savoury shortbread were on the menu too. The cake, of course, had to be Thomas!!

Apart from the train, the kids had their own activity table with playdoh, more colouring and bubbles.
