TRICKS and TREATS by PipPipHOORAY

Today I’m sharing the TRICKS and TREATS party I recently hosted - it’s absolutely one of my all-time favorites! This bright and bold party is packed with TRICKS and TREATS that will surprise your guests from beginning to end. It’s all about celebrating silly - and is guaranteed to deliver lots of laughs, gasps, and even some groans. So much fun!

I got the party started with a PARTY POPPER INVITATION that both TRICKs and TREATs - pull the string for a surprise pop, and then uncover sweet treats inside. It’s easy to make using an empty toilet paper roll and a few basic supplies.

I chose bright and bold colors for the party decor - hot pink, lime green, citron, and gold - and kept my decorations (and prep) to a minimum by just focusing on the food table. The WALL FRINGE BACKDROP was super simple to make - tying strips of plastic tablecloths to a piece of string - but it definitely delivered a lot of color. I also made several TISSUE PAPER TASSELS in the party colors to add to a purchased honeycomb ball and an extra large CONFETTI BALLOON to make them more festive. I created a TRICK PINATA (see more below) in the same party colors as one of the games, but I used it as a decoration until it was time to bust it open. Finally, I cut FRINGED STREAMERS and draped them to the front of the food table.

I wanted to continue the TRICKS and TREATS theme with the party food, so I served a FRO YO bar where guests could treat themselves to lots of fun toppings. I included some other silly treats too: USED BANDAID COOKIES, DIRTY QTIPS, and TOOTHPASTE FILLED COOKIES. I also made a SPONGE CAKE using kitchen sponges and covering them with icing. I served it with candles lit and asked everyone to sing the Happy Birthday song - no one guessed it wasn’t real until I cut into it. Such a tricky surprise!!

I love how silly all of the party games were - they definitely delivered lots of laughs and giggles! We began with ROLL ‘EM UP - the kids had to eat a fruit roll with no hands. We also played SHAKE IT OUT, TRICKY TREAT BALL, and I FEEL SOMETHING TRICKY. Our final activity was the TRICK PINATA. I made the piñata easily by using a purchased paper lantern for the form and then filling it with - surprise! - broccoli and mini carrots instead of candy. I loved seeing the kids’ faces when they saw veggies instead of candy fly out of the piñata!

As the final party trick, I passed out empty prize bags. Of course, the kids were surprised again! I had their real prizes - all silly items from the party supply isle - nearby so that they could fill their bags with them to take home. I also sent home a printable THANK YOU CARD that I created with mirror image text so it was little tricky to read. I used a glassine envelope so that you could see the colorful paper confetti made in the party colors
