Party Recap

My daughter had been begging me for an Ever After High Party for awhile. It's a raising in popularity show, so I had to be creative in order to get the theme across. The first thing I bought was the gold and white polka dot wrapping paper. I was inspired! I ordered candy apples ahead of time from the local "Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory" and picked them up the day of. I bought purple and white straws and added a thank you tag that I easily slipped over the apples sticks before setting them out. I purchased a black mirror from Ikea that fit perfectly with the "Rebel" part of the theme. Using white mirror chalk market I wrote "Happy Spellbinding Birthday Zahra", in one of the theme fonts. It was impossible to find a cake to capture the theme so I stuck with cupcakes. I made them myself and iced them with red whipped icing and sparkles. Using baking chocolate I piped stems and green leaves to decorate and make them more authentic. To the table I added the Raven and Apple dolls. I filled a few candy jars with purple and red candies. I purchased red, purple and a see-thru balloon to add some fun to the table and gave the red balloon a leaf and stem to make it look like an apple and......"Voi-la". Having a party at your home with young bored children is a disaster. I knew I needed to brainstorm some activities for organized chaos. I found an Ever After High friendship charm bracelet kit in the toy isle. I divided up the strings and the charms so each child had just enough. They were easy to make and we had some moms dive in to help with any little confused hands. I also placed in each bag an eye shadow, colored lip gloss and blush. I handed the bags out randomly to avoid any upsets and then teamed the girls up. The result was a funny make over moment where each girl got to transform her friend into a "colorful" but stylish princess. They loved all the decorations and the party. The house wasn't nearly as torn apart as it could have been, and we all had a lovely time celebrating.
