My friend made this for me, but I think she glued them on a 8 inch cake circle, then attached a dowel to the back and stabilized it in a box with marbles and Styrofoam.

Love, love! What did you use for the base & how did you stick them in? Sorry if there is a "how to" area & I'm missing it. I assume a styro ball w/ toothpicks?
