This is a quick, fun craft to go along with the Mouse Paint book by Ellen Stoll Walsh. Wonderful book and project to teach Primary and Secondary colors!! This was perfect for an uncoated paper plate but can definitely be done on paper. I have presented it on rectangular paper as well as round paper plates and it definitely seemed easier for the kids to paint three sections on something circular opposed to something rectangular. Give them a squirt of red, blue and yellow paint on their plate and one "mouse" cotton ball for each color and let them paint the sections and then swirl and mix at the edges to create their secondary colors of green, orange and purple. While it's drying they can cut out their mice. I teach at a homeschool co-op and my class is for 3-8 year olds so I always make sure to have some pre-cut mice for my younger kiddos who can't cut yet. Glue on the mice and let everything dry. Have the kids add whiskers and tails to their mice. Older kids can write on the names of the colors as well. This has definitely been a hit in my class! Print as many as you need!
