Party Recap

Benjamin wanted a Lego theme for his 5th birthday so the planning for this party started early - like in January. Pintrest was also heavily involved with the planning process.

Party Highlights

  • Desserts

    CAKE

  • Party Favors

Lego Club Jr magazine, Playdoh, Crayola crayons, mini figs, coloring book of Lego printables, mini water gun, funny nose/glasses disguise, paddle and ball, bubbles, Lego Star Wars cup, and party favors from Lego birthday kit.

  • Activities / Games

Weather in Nova Scotia is unpredictable so I bought the Lego movie Clutch Powers and moved the train table into the living room and covered it in Lego for the kids to play with.

  • Budget

There was no budget, I started buying stuff slowly over the last few months to cut down on the food bill right before the party. I kept the cost down on the decorations by focusing on the traditional LEGO colors of red, blue, green and yellow and stalked Dollar Stores across the city to get enough vinyl table clothes to put up on the wall. The LEGO City posters only cost me $10 for the whole lot and $15 for the balloon. The Lego blocks on the cake were made in a Lego block mold that I bought along with the mini fig and a larger mini fig.

  • What People Ate

Cookies, cake, hot dogs, and various other home made goodies.

  • What People Drank

Fruit punch, milk, apple juice. Ben was given a water cooler for Christmas and we were able to use at the party to allow the kids to get their own drinks. It also decreased the risk of spills.

  • Best Moment

My son's best friend's Mom said to him "This was a fantastic party" and my son responded "Yes, this was a fantastic party".

  • Funniest Moment

10 minutes after all the guests left, my son said "We have to start planning my next party after supper tonight".

  • Most Touching Moment

When my son started to fall asleep I heard him say "Best day ever".

  • Best Dressed

I made him his own birthday shirt with a Lego head on it. I loved how some of the girls showed up with party dresses on.

  • Homemade food.

I made just about all the snacks and the cake. My husband made the chili and the meatballs from scratch for the parents.
