Emily's 8.5 surprise birthday party
ByParty Recap
Little Emily's birthday is the day after Christmas and with all the busy schedules, her birthday got a little behind. My daughter, who is 9, decided to throw Em a surprise birthday party. We threw this party together in 2 days!
Party Highlights
-
Desserts
Gourmet cupcakes
-
Budget
$100 since most stuff was created by me and I already had a lot of supplies.
-
Best Moment
It was a surprise for Em so we had her mom drive around the block while the kids lined up in the street wearing cone hats. As the car got close, Emily couldn't figure out what was going on but once the kids started singing "Happy Birthday", she was overcome with emotion and dove to floorboards!
-
What People Ate
Ice Cream with assorted toppings, wafers, cookies and cupcakes
-
What People Drank
Lemonade, water
-
Most Touching Moment
My daughter, whose birthday is next week, was more excited for Emily's party than her own. The realization that giving was much more rewarding than getting. ahhhhh!
-
Funniest Moment
My daughter telling Emily that she didn't have a lot of time to hang out as she was going to a party. Emily didn't realize it was HER party and was bugging her mom to hurry since she didn't have a lot of time to play.

Hi Jillian, Most of the food was purchased at world market as they were imports. The wafers, cones, toppings, macrons etc were bought there. The mini pink strawberry cupcakes and the cotton candy cookies were Target and the gourmet cupcakes were from the grocery store. I can't tell you how inexpensive it was! Score! It was frown together so quickly, I only had time for the printables! The cupcake bunting, banner and water bottle labels were my own design but I cheated on the topper printables and used the free downloads from eat, drink chic! They were awesome!
