Party Recap

because we own a small floral design company, my husband and i knew we had to do something special for our son's baptism, but we did not want it to be centered around flowers (for a change). so, with some inspiration from a book party David Stark recently designed, we created the bird on the stick decor. we coupled them with bright yellow billy balls and the concept took off. we used mason jars as an inexpensive way to have glasses for all the guests. we tied tags around them so everyone could write their names on them to keep track of their sangria. we used a built-in, in our living room to display pictures of our son from the first five months of his precious life. my husband built the wooden menu board that we painted with chalkboard paint to display the snacks of the day (ps. it's reversible so you can write the desserts on the back before the party starts). my husband also made the wooden trays we filled with moss and used for one of our favorite apps -pigs in a blanket (isn't that the fanciest way of displaying cocktail weiners!) lastly, we want to highlight the diy cupcake bar. how fun! un-iced cupcakes, homemade icing in mason jars, a variety of toppings and you have a fun and unique dessert option. let's not forget the fun "Charlie Winkles" banner (my son's nickname) that tied in the overall feel of the party- a little vintage, a little retro, and a little rustic. (check out our blog karmaflowers.blogspot.com if you would like to know where some of the decorative items have come from)
