Selected as Party of the Day on September 6th!
Joshua Feldman's Bar Mitzvah
ByParty Recap
An amazing event that I am super excited to share with you!
This event was very special and dear to me as this was for my son Joshua!
I have been creating parties for so many years for so many people
and finally I got to create and go all out for my own child!
Having a Bar Mitzvah is a very special time in the life of a Jewish child.
It symbolizes reaching the age of responsibility within the Jewish community.
My son Joshua has been working for years towards this day
and our family could not have been more proud of him!
It took me two full years to plan and create for this event. At first I was doing it all on my own and then I met an amazing woman/party planner named Kelly from Head Over Heels Wedding and Events located here in Charlotte, NC. Kelly and I clicked from the start! She understood exactly what I did for a living and let me just "do my thing" and gave her honest opinion throughout the process of creating. Once everything was created and finished, it was my time to relax and Kelly's time to implement and design the room! As you can see from the photo's she did quite the job of doing just that!
The service was in morning at the temple and was simply beautiful. Then in the evening was the party!!!! My son is a Junior Checker Ice Hockey Player here in Charlotte, NC. We are transplants from New York and Joshua’s favorite Hockey team is the New York Rangers. We wanted to create a feeling of being “on the ice” but yet still keep it classy, simple and kid friendly! The Providence Country Club is a gorgeous facility but it is a Country Club so we needed to transform the room to give it that Ice feel! The first thing we decided to do was to drape the entire room in white and then project blue up lights throughout.
The next step was trying to create an “ice type feel and look” on the tables. We explored a bunch of different linens and chose to do a linen called “crushed ice”. Perfect for our venue! We chose a silvery grey for the table cloths, navy blue napkins with silver rhinestone napkin rings. Then the next decision was what to use for the centerpieces. We decided, what better for an Ice Hockey Party but to use Ice Sculptures for the centerpieces. We decided to keep in streamlined and did a Stanley Cup, a hockey player, the Bar Mitzvah Logo I designed for my son and hockey sticks. They were over the top gorgeous.
My most favorite decoration of this event was the 6 foot long Hockey stick ice sculpture with my sons name. The ice sculpture took up an entire 6 foot table! Until the very end, we could not figure out what we wanted for this very special candle lighting ceremony. Kelly had a plan. What if we did his name in Ice with the 13 candles in front of it! I said DONE and so we did!!! People were in awe of this massive most gorgeous sculpture! My son had no idea and was so surprised when he walked in the room and saw his name in ice like that!
For the Table Place Cards, we chose the all time greatest New York Rangers and used their photo and jersey number as the table place cards. Then I created an actual hockey ticket as the escort card showing the player and the player’s jersey number. So the guest could locate their table either by the photo of the player or their jersey number. The backdrop for the escort card table was the Madison Square Garden Jumbo Tran showing Joshua’s Hockey Photo instead of the NY Rangers as well as replacing the Rangers Logo with Joshua’s Mitzvah Logo.
For the kid’s side of the room, I created concession stand signs that we blew up and then in the middle of the two concession stand signs, we hung an enlarged photo of Joshua on the Ice playing! For the adult’s side, I created a gorgeous, simple and classy menu that matched our theme perfectly.
For the party favors, I created matching chocolate bar wrappers and covered Hershey Bars and passed them out. I also created a hockey stick design and had hockey puck squishies that we placed in silver tins with personalized stickers for all of our guests.
It was an incredible event that my son will cherish and remember forever!
Enjoy!

Great poster. Can you create one for a Bar mitzvah boy? How much would it be? I love all you Ranger ideas. I would like to work with you on some of your creations for an event in May. Carol Kratenstein [email protected]
