Party Recap

My son's 5th birthday was held the day before Superstorm Sandy hit the Jersey Shore. Saturday was spent preparing the house and yard and grabbing any last minute storm supplies we could find.
We woke Sunday morning to high winds and the early rain bands coming in, and I did consider cancelling all together, but his friends' parents assured me they already made their storm preparations and with that peace of mind, the party went ahead!

I designed the party in the style of the old comic, superhero and kept the party design generic to be able to incorporate any special superheros he wanted. I used bright colors of red, orange, yellow, green, and blue in the decor and overall layouts.

I created a faux brick wall with Hulk's hands "punching" through that served as the backdrop for the cake and other desserts.

Each guest received a mask and cape I created out of felt (and bonus, they were no-sew!)

In the style of vintage comics, I created a black and grey skyline with my son's initial beaming into the sky, as if calling him to duty.

The children's favors were reusable superhero bags filled with markers, stickers, coloring book, tattoos and other assorted superhero items. I found superhero notepads back in August in the dollar section of Michael's that served as the adult favors. I created a sign that read, "Even Superhero have To-Do Lists." It was a big hit, especially among the moms!
