Party Recap

I had so much fun making everything for the party and I'm excited to share it with you. I love my fellow party people who "get it." Here's the scoop on the details:

DECORATIONS

-Napkin flowers are cheap and easy. My tutorial here: http://designeditor.typepad.com/design_editor/napkin-paper-flower-tutorial.html

-For all of the signs I designed, I made the pink diagonal stripes in Illustrator instead of buying special paper and scanned in the floral design from the serving napkins I used. The script font is Odstemplik; I love it. I traced all of the glittered number 1's and cake topper initials onto a special adhesive foam paper from Michaels--really neat stuff.

-I'm big on keepsakes, so I made Wish Jars for each baby. Being twins, they get a lot of combined things so I love that they'll have a special message just for themselves from this big day. The glitter sticker frames (as well as the round bling stickers I used everywhere) are from Making Memories.

-Instead of looking high and low for the right tablecloths, I just glued pom-pom trim onto fabric. I'm all about the no-sew.

-For my photo wall, I used ScrapbookPictures.com for the prints and was so happy with their service. Love the different shapes and sizes they offer.

SWEETS

-In lieu of a big cake or cupcakes I went the Whoopie Pie (or MagPie) route. Chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting. The photo is just a sampling of the 75 I made. You can't imagine the scene in my kitchen trying to bake all of the parts.

-The girls got their own, little 6" smash cake, though no smashing here, they were very ladylike. I love the cake toppers. A vintage find? Nah, Pier One napkin rings!

FOR THE KIDS

-Guests received mini Play-Doh and mini-paint sets for creativity themed favors.

-For entertainment, you'd be surprised what a hit a last minute $3.99 balloon animal kit can be. It also helps to have good friends with their own bouncy house.

Party Highlights

  • Desserts

I made chocolate whoopie pies with cream cheese frosting as the main dessert. I also had fruit salad, chocolate dipped rice krispie treats and smash cakes for the girls.

  • Activities / Games

    Bouncy house and balloon animals.

  • What People Ate

A taco and enchilda bar from our favorite upscale Mexican restaurant. We figured we'd get what we wanted while the girls were still little!

  • What People Drank

Juice boxes for kids, sodas, margaritas and beer for the adults.

  • Most Touching Moment

Singing Happy Birthday to my daughters for the first time was so special and emotional!
