Party Recap

The theme was "Born to be WILD" - a zebra themed twin girls baby shower with pink + green.

I styled a sweets table inside. Used a zebra patterned fabric from Hobby Lobby for the table runner. Used tulle to "spray" from the light fixture to try and distract from the busy room and bring the focus on the table. I purchased the hot pink and lime mirrors at Hobby Lobby and used them as the cookie platters. The custom cookies from The Cookie Jar were simply fantastic - the detail on their cookies are just amazing, as always. I seriously haven't seen anything cuter! I also purchased the lime green zebra planter from Hobby Lobby and filled with Lillycakes and also added some ribbon and a mini zebra to a pink box for the other display. I made the pomander ball by punching out pink, green, black and white flowers on glitter paper and pinned into a foam ball and put on top of a candle holder I had from home (again, added some matching ribbon) and voila! A nice little DIY decoration. Very time consuming but worth it :) Another DIY was "The Strissel Twins" sign my hubby made (he's turned into quite the sign guy ever since we made the Sesame Street "Cami Street" sign for my daughter's Elmo Party). :)

Also located inside was a round table with a photo tree I purchased from UMA - Urban Materials + Accessories. (As seen in Oprah Magazine!) I'm friends with the owner and I noticed a FB status about a sale they were having so I was browsing the site and came across the photo tree and immediately got the idea to use it for the shower. I created different colored cards that asked guests to write a well-wish for the soon to be Mommy + Daddy that they could clip to the tree. Kind of a "feather their nest" sort of thing. Turned out super cute!

Outside, I decorated the tent with paper lanterns, parasols and some tulle with simple floral centerpieces. (The hostess had some lovely hydrangea bushes at their home so I "stole" a few) The pink and green vases were purchased from Hobby Lobby on sale for $1.50 each. We also hung pink string from their porch to create an adorable clothesline. My gift to the parents-to-be was the zebra section of pettiskirts, headbands, hats and rompers from AMK's Boutique. (The mama-to-be is my cousin) Turned out so adorable! Those little twins are going to be stylin'! :) I hand-cut little zebra's and stuck inside many of the flower planters - they looked so cute :)
