Party Recap

This year I thought it would be fun to celebrate Chinese New Year! Just something simple, while making it festive & fun for the family. In year’s past, we’ve attended beautiful parades that are held every year in Chinatown. I wanted to celebrate, in honor of the year of the horse!
For our little party, I picked up fortune cookies, and cupcakes. I also picked up Chinese food from our favorite restaurant. I gathered decorations that I had around the house, spray painted trays, and even a few toy horses. Kiley, from Made by a Princess, created the perfect mini printable kit. They were perfect for our small, family gathering. I added her printables to chopsticks, mini take-out boxes, party horns, tissue fans, fortune cookies, paper lanterns, and red envelopes.
To make things a little more festive, I spray painted fortune cookies with gold edible spray from Wilton.
I then added the cookies to the tops of the cupcakes, along with little star picks that I found at Target.
The party horns were left over from past birthday parties. I added a printable straw flad to each one, and displayed them on a gold tray. I picked up some fun party poppers for a little added “noise”!
It was so fun learning about the traditions of Chinese New Year, and my kids said they want to celebrate it every year, from now on!
