This was an intimate formal afternoon tea with all the trimmings: fine china, gold-rimmed crystal, antique silver, and hand-embroidered linens.
The party decor was inspired by the nursery which featured a cherry blossom motif. Colors were pink, ivory & brown. Instead of flowers, we opted for a more sleek and modern look with handmade ribbon balls in clear crystal cylinders.
Homemade mixed berry salad with grand marnier sauce served in individual footed dessert bowls; French macaroon and shortbread cookie "rattles"; a selection of French macaroons from Laduree; homemade red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.
Mini tea tins and candy jars, as well as stationery sets from Kate's Paperie.
Activities / Games
Wishing tree hung with tags which guests used to share their wishes with the mommy-to-be.
Posing for photos with the ribbon ball "baby rattles".
What People Ate
Homemade finger sandwiches: watercress, egg salad, cucumber, smoked salmon, and crab salad. Each flavor sandwich was cut into a different shape using cookie cutters.
What People Drank
Sakura sencha tea infused with dried cherry blossoms, as well as sparkling soda in sour cherry flavor both tie into the cherry blossom theme.
