A close girlfriend was getting married so a few of us got together to plan her bridal shower. We decided on a Masquerade theme in hot pink and black, wanting a sexy feel for the night where all of us could dress up and have a ball.
The bride-to-be walked in, and was shocked at the transformation of the house with all the decorations and fancy dessert table, which made all the hard work worthwhile just to see her face light up like that.
The ladies walked in and were met by a table filled with props (colourful masks, pearl necklaces, rings, sceptre, and wands) which doubled as the photo booth area. We wanted a fun and elegant setting and went with a damask backdrop and hanging decorations. They were told to catch the bride-to-be for a picture using the Polaroid camera as it would be included in the scrapbook that we would make for her later.
The dessert table featured cookies shaped in corsets and wedding gowns, moist dark chocolate cupcakes and rich creamy chocolate mousse. We also included an apothecary drink dispenser with Virgin Island Punch, Masquerade Mojitos in jars, Sexy Sangria in mini wine glasses and Fizzy Nectar (soft drink) in decorated mini milk bottles. The drinks were a hit with the ladies and definitely livened up the atmosphere.
We also served canapés and finger food that were easy to make but lovely to look at. They were served in cupcake cases, cut glass compotes, lovely white platters and plated up beautifully. Sandwiches, prawn and fruit skewers, pasta and DIY tacos never looked so good.
After a lovely night, the ladies went home with a gift bag prepared by the bride-to-be, which includes a face mask, mini nail polish and mini hand cream. The bride-to-be also wrote personalised cards to each guest thanking them for attending the party and detailing why each of them were special to her. What a great way to end the party.
