More of an "Under the Sea" approach to my 7 year old daughter's requested Spongebob theme party.

When my daughter asked for a Spongebob themed party, at first I wasn't sure where to start in order to make it cute plus I am not a fan of plastering characters everywhere at my parties. I ended up deciding on taking more of an "under the sea" feel to the decor. "Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Spongebob Squarepants!" We gave her party the name "Pineapple Under the Sea".

I started by selecting the colors - yellow (for Spongebob), pink (for Patrick, Spongebob's best friend), and blue (for the ocean).

I then purchased the blue chevron fabric to use as runners.

I created her invitation and all food and candy labels with the chevron print as well.

General Decor- The party was in our backyard. We set up a large tent for tables and seating as well as the cake/dessert table.I created jellyfish using card stock with ruffled streamers attached which I hung from the ceiling of the tent along with fishing nets and large tissue poms in the party colors. The dinner table was set up on our deck. I used seashells and starfish decorations scattered on tables and filled an aqua apothecary with them as well. I used the blue chevron print runners on the tables and also blue tinted glass bottles.

Food- my mother in law is an absolutely amazing cook and also very, very creative! She made the following: octodogs (hot dogs cut to look like octopi) on Mac and cheese, shrimp with several dipping sauces, crab cakes, Cole slaw, and Mini pizzas cut into stars. I added chicken salad sandwiches cut in the shape of starfish, carrots with ranch dip, Chips and salsa, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches cut like starfish, spongebob, Patrick, and sharks, goldfish crackers, strawberries, pineapple, and mandarin oranges.
Drinks- lemonade and blue Hawaiian punch in glass canisters, teas, juice boxes, and bottled water

Cake and dessert table- the centerpiece was a yellow ruffled cake that I made and decorated with chocolate and fondant starfish and seashells. Treats included- cake pops, chocolate starfish and seashells, crabby patty skewers, chocolate spongebobs, yellow gummy bears, Mr. Krabs' money mints, gummy sea creatures, Yellow and blue gum balls, lemon heads, cherry chews, pink marshmallows, twizzlers, and yellow marshmallows. I purchased yellow chevron treat bags and made thank you stickers which I placed on them.

Activities- we rented a large bounce house for the children, and since it was in our back yard, they also had our swing set and outdoor playhouses to keep them busy.
