Hi Kelley...yes, the arms and legs are just big blobs of fondant. You could actually use leftover cake as well. Good luck! Also...just a little tip...the bottom layer and Elmo's head are styrofoam so I was able to make them in advance.

I would like to attempt to make this cake for my son's party. Are the arms and legs just icing coming from the cake?

Thanks for the compliment! No, Elmo's head is not a big cookie, but that is a GREAT idea! His head is actually styrofoam. Too easy!
