💠 INLAID: Two polished stones have been artfully embedded into a carved indent, secured with epoxy, to give this already amazing piece a little extra flair.
♦ The stones are not in a place where one would rest their palm so they don't compromise your comfort.
♦ I use a walking stick daily and have made sure that neither the diamonds nor the stone inlays impede the grip. Rather, they make a great finger grip or hand guide so you always can tell if your hand is in the right place on the handle without looking at it.
♦ Besides being a finger guide, they also gives the thumb something to fondle, like a worry stone or fidget spinner ;)
💠 GIRTH: Hand grip girth is best for a Lg to XXL ADULT HAND (determined by what size work or winter glove you wear), as it is now.

💠 AMAZING COLORS and natural diamonds, all made by nature, with streaks of color typical of aged (older) wood. The natural colors are spectacular, looking so much better in person than I'm able to capture with photos.
💠 DIAMONDS: Covered with an exceptional array of natural wooden diamonds 💎 with all sorts of wonderful twisting curves and a variety of tan, caramel, dark brown and reddish brown colors.
♦ SOME DEEP...This stick has a few particularly deep diamonds (although it's difficult to capture the many curves and forms in the photos--but they're there,) so I feel I must mention it. They're beautiful alone, and also perfect for embedding more stones or charms into them, if you'd wish.
💠 INSECT MARKINGS: Has several/a few insect and/or worm hole markings on this stick.
♦ Worm and other insect markings are somewhat rare 🦄 and are actually coveted, as they help create a unique design, character to the stick, and add another dimension to the story of how efficient nature works. 🦗🦟🐛
♦ The worms or insects have long disappeared, usually before I harvest or for sure 💯 during/after I dry my sticks INSIDE OUR HOME 🏡 for several months, then sand and coat with poly.

This walking staff is a OOAK (one of a kind) item made from native northern Minnesota diamond willow tree, and handcrafted by me, Tim P., a local, experienced artisan.
♦ Sustainably harvested in northern MN.
♦ Main bark removed by hand.
♦ Dried/cured naturally by air for a minimum of several months, though often much longer
♦ Meticulously and lovingly sanded to reveal nature's beauty
♦ Given 4-5 coats of clear polyurethane.

I use a walking cane DAILY (or hiking staff for woods trompsing), and have had the same hiking staff and cane for several years, and I take pride in making sure you get a beautiful, strong and sturdy walking staff to last for many years!

♦ As a GENERAL rule, hiking sticks should be about shoulder height...give or take a few inches.
♦ For FLAT terrain, or rolling hills and groomed trails, a walking staff should be about 4-6" above the elbow, or a few inches below the shoulder.
♦ For HILLY terrain, a stick that's shoulder height or even a few inches above the shoulder is often preferred to help when descending.
♦ Preferences vary, sooo.....
♦ If you've never had a walking stick, try practicing on a broom stick (while wearing 👞🥿walking shoes) to see what height stick feels comfortable first AND where your preferred 🖐handgrip location would be.

📐 WE CAN SHORTEN, at no charge. We'll happily cut it down for you. Just let us know the length you want. Measure📏2️⃣ twice and we'll cut once (then sand and coat with clear poly).

ABOUT MAX 230 lbs.

♦ This could maybe hold more weight, but I'm just guessing at wt. limit. I'm "only" ~200 lbs. and test each stick just by trying to bend it to make sure it's sturdy.
♦ Most of my walking sticks have a weight limit of 350 lbs. but this is just a tad (1/8") thinner than I'd like.
♦ THIS STICK does bend just a little if I push really hard on this, so it's not meant to be a crutch you lean on ALL the time. And no pole vaulting! ;) That way it will work great as a hiking aid for many years!

WRIST STRAP

♦ Strong, braided wrist straps are made of 550 paracord, soft genuine leather suede or braided jute rope.
♦ Suede is a THINNER strap, just 2/8'' - 3/8'' wide, and the 550 Paracord lanyard is THICKER at approx. 3/4''-7/8'' wide.
♦ Strap is made of 8-10 ft of cord, suede or jute and is approx. 13 in. when open, and 6 in. when closed, with extra long tassels you can cut yourself after you adjust to fit.
♦ Some people add charms or beads to the tassels, or just leave them plain.

💠 BENEFITS OF A WRIST STRAP
♦ When positioned above handgrip, the strap gives you something to hold onto to help pull yourself up, or just extra leverage when nordic trekking, helping you conserve energy
♦ Ensures you don't drop your hiking staff if you lose your grip
♦ Allows you to let go of your walking stick without dropping it if you need to use your hand for something else
♦ Hang your hiking pole or walking cane on a coat hook when you get indoors
♦ You could cut or untie the strap (but not too easily) and use it for many camping/survival uses (too many uses to list here). Paracord has 7 inner strands that are very useful, as well.

💠 HOW IT'S BRAIDED
♦ I braid the paracord lanyard myself with a loose sinnet cobra knot made of 4 strands of cord (4 strands in tassel). Ends are slightly burned after cutting to seal them, so inner strands of paracord don't ride up, or so poly doesn't unravel.
♦ Wife braids the soft, strong, brown suede leather with a simple braid of three strands (6 strands in tassel).

💠 HOW WRIST STRAP ADDED
♦ Hole drilled, sanded and then coated with clear poly
♦ Lanyard threaded through hole and tied loosely (so you can easily untie and adjust it before you tighten the knots for good).

💠 But really I just want to make sure you read this part of the listing description. So if you know you want a hand grip:
♦ the grip would be below the top 8.5 in.
♦ otherwise, if you want it closer to the top, it would be below the top 3" (below the white rock)
♦ AND it would cover a few of the big diamonds at the top
♦ AND hubby Tim would put something in the diamonds, like soft foam or something similar, so your fingers don't push through the ropes of the wrap, and go into the deep diamonds

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

♦ Bring it inside when you're not using it, and maybe wipe dirt or water off of it with a dry cloth or damp cloth if needed....when you can.
♦ Being left outside for a little while every now and then is no big deal. I've had the same stick I use daily for many years, and I leave it out sometimes--just not too often.
♦ These are made for the outdoors, but the clear poly is not UV tolerant like marine epoxy.
♦ Should not be left in the sun or extreme heat or cold for days and weeks on end. Otherwise, the same thing will happen to your lovely walking stick that happens to wood furniture left outside in all sorts of weather.
♦ Just bring it indoors when not in use, and the 5 coats of poly I've put on will help protect your walking stick and help you keep it nice looking and useful for many years.
