Party Recap

My Hunger Games obsessed daughter could not choose a theme other than HG. We chose to do a dress up party. We played several games with trivia challeges, physical challenges, and a cornicopia challenge. I also decided to do a Mellark Bakery decorating station. I made sugar cookies in the shape of Buttercup the cat, the mockingjay, and a flower for Rue. I also made girl on fire cupcakes for them to decorate.

Party Highlights

  • Desserts

I made the cake batter to resemble fire. I had red, orange and yellow batter for the inside. I made a fondant mockingjay painted with lemon extract and luster dust. The frosting was all buttercream.

  • Activities / Games

We divided the kids into 3 teams, they had a trivia challenge, a physical challange and the cornicopia challange. The Team with the most points won the games.

  • Budget

$150. I got all my pieces for the party either barrowed or mine. I got a few things for the dollar store, the good will and etsy.

  • Party Favors

We had firebombs - bath bombs wrapped in red and yellow tissue paper, Rue's hair flower clips, and Ceasar Flickerman Bling ring pops. They all took home a box of Mellark bakery items...Bread, cookies and cupcakes.

  • Best Moment

Seeing eveyone come dressed up so cute.

  • What People Ate

We had all themed food...Greasy Sae's mini breakfast sandwich, nightlock yogurt parfaits, Effie Trinket's choclate covered strawberries, The Mellark Bakery's mini cinnamon rolls.

  • What People Drank

We had the Effie Trinket - pink lemonade with lemon lime soda and Capital Orange juice.

Thanks for your kind words. It was a fun party to plan. My daughter helped alot with ideas and things she wanted to incorporate. One of my favorites was the Ceasar Flickerman bling rings.
